Smoking at UK

The University of Kentucky's Tobacco-free Policy

On November 19th, 2009, the University of Kentucky became a tobacco free campus. As of 2015, the University has joined over 1,000 other tobacco free campuses around the country. Why was this policy put into effect?

As we strive for increased enforcement of the tobacco free policy, we want to educate and raise awareness of the issue as well.

We are a group of students at the University of Kentucky dedicated to educating the community and inspiring positive change. We want to create a healthier living and learning environment for all the campus community. Our efforts involve advocating for the improvement of the tobacco-free policy on campus because we believe that it is the right of all students, faculty, and visitors at UK to breathe clean air in pursuing their educational and career goals. We are attempting to reach and persuade the University of Kentucky administration to improve the policy, thus increasing compliance and the overall health of the campus community.
